Investigation into alleged carjacking of 81-year-old

Police are appealing for information as they investigate an alleged carjacking at the Central Coast on Tuesday.

Officers have been told about 7.20am (Tuesday 11 April 2023), an 81-year-old woman was unpacking groceries from her car on Hargrave Street, Wyong, when a man allegedly climbed into the driver’s seat of the car.

The incident occurred around 7:20am Tuesday the 11th when an 81-year-old woman was unpacking groceries from her car on Hargrave Street, Wyong.

It is alleged a man climbed into the driver’s seat of the car before a struggle took place in which the woman was allegedly pushed to the ground.

The man fled the scene driving he car towards Margaret Street, the vehicle is described as being a 2004 silver Daewoo sedan with registration ARN85L.

Emergency services were notified, and the woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended and have commenced an investigation into the incident.

As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information about the incident, or potential dashcam footage, to contact Tuggerah Lakes police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
