It’s rush hour on the humpback migration highway, with whale watchers recording one of their busiest seasons.
But as well as the spectacle, there’s been a bit of eavesdropping on the passing parade.
This pod was observed off Port Stephens from the whale watching vessel, Imagine, which carries an underwater microphone.
Known as whale song, the sounds are thought to be a common language shared by humpbacks.
