A champion all-rounder was farewelled today at a funeral service at Merewether.
Max Fox, the inaugural chairman of the Newcastle Knights, was highly regarded in both the legal and sporting fraternities.
Mr Fox worked as a barrister and captained the Newcastle and Northern New South Wales cricket sides during the 1960s – twice against England.
He was also a president, chairman and life member of several Hunter rugby league clubs.
Max Fox was 78.
