NSW GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES PRISON EXPANSIONS

A plan to create thousands of new prison beds in New South Wales is expected to create more than 2000 jobs across the state, including on the mid north coast.
The $3.8-billion plan for 4000 new beds, originally announced in the state budget, is designed to dramatically expand the capacity of the state’s prisons.
Corrections Minister David Elliott says more than 2830 new jobs would be created, including new roles for prison guards, in areas such as Nowra, Bathurst, Kempsey and Junee.
