Swansea Channel dredging program begins

The long-awaited dredging of the Swansea Channel is about to begin, as the Labor Party makes good of an election promise.
$1.5 million will be spent on removing 30,000 cubic metres of sand to aid the headache for boaties this summer.
The dredge is currently being assembled and the first campaign is due to begin in the coming weeks.
It will see 15,000 cubic metres dug up and moved to Elizabeth Island by November.
The Maritime Infrastructure Delivery Office hopes to begin the second campaign in Autumn 2024.
