A 22-year-old Lake Macquarie man was yesterday arrested on Ocean Street, Dudley, following an investigation into an alleged armed robbery attempt at Cardiff on Tuesday August 8.
Police were called to a service station on Main Road, Cardiff following reports of an attempted armed robbery around 3:45pm.
Police were told that a man entered the service stations allegedly threatening an employee with a bladed weapon and demanding money.
The man was unsuccessful in obtaining proceeds, and fled the scene in a vehicle. There were no reports of injuries.
Following his arrest, the man was taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with attempt robbery armed with offensive weapon.
He was refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today.
