Some unscheduled road tarring at Ashmore this morning when a trailer came loose, causing a tank of cold bitumen to topple.
Two-thousand litres of the sticky asphalt spilled over a side street, just off Nerang-Southport Road, a small amount seeping into a nearby drain.
“Rapid intervention from the fire fighters has contained the spill from the water course and we’re now awaiting Gold Coast City Council to clean up the remainder of the spill”
Police and Council Environmental Health officers are investigating.
