JONES TO BE FARWELLED AT HOME TRACK

A Tamworth jockey who passed away following a mid-race collision will be farewelled at his home track this week.
Darren Jones died after an accident during a race at the Warialda Cup meet earlier this month.
The popular 49-year-old was Merv Corliss’ apprentice in the 1970s – and went on to ride almost 1000 winners.
The service will begin a 1pm Thursday, at the Tamworth Jockey Club.
