Coolangatta surfer Brent Dorrington has begun his climb, up the qualifying series ratings after a third place finish at the Santa Catarina pro in Brazil.
Despite the small conditions, Dorrington fought hard, but went down in the semi final to eventual winner Michael Rodrigues.
The result netting Dorrington valuable points heading into the tail end of the season.
