STATE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES LARGER LOADS CAN HIT THE ROADS

Transporting feed during the big dry will soon be easier, with the State Government today announcing new measures for carrying freight.

Changes will mean more hay per truckload can be transported, which is expected to lower costs for drought-stricken farmers.

From Wednesday, trucks transporting hay will be able to travel under notice and without a permit, including B-doubles up to 26 metres long.

Loads of hay higher than 4.6 metres may also be given access permits on a case by case basis.
