OFFICER SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY STOLEN MOTORCYCLE

A police officer will undergo surgery, after he was hit by a stolen motorcycle in the Newcastle suburb of Wallsend at the weekend.
It’s alleged the Senior Constable was deliberately struck by the motorcyclist in the driveway of a Bent Street home, leaving him with extensive cuts and burns to his legs.
Police had attended the address as part of an investigation into the whereabouts of a stolen motorcycle.
The rider, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, left the scene, before he was picked up during a vehicle stop at nearby Glendale.
He was charged with a string of offences including driving while disqualified.
The accused was denied bail to front Toronto Local Court today.
