Despite recent rainfall, Kempsey Shire Council could be forced to implement Level One water restrictions as early as next week.
The town’s water cycle is reliant on the flow of the Macleay River, which is impacted by catchments around the Armidale-Walcha area.
Council will continue to monitor river levels in the Kempsey region.
If put in place, the restrictions will apply predominately to households and public areas.
