The Gunnedah Visitor Information Centre will be relocated to the Civic Theatre on Chandos street.
The decision was made at last night’s council meeting, with Mayor Owen Hasler having the final say, the vote finished 5 to 4.
The estimated cost of the move is $200,000, but will save council $87,000 each year.
Its current location will be renamed the “Bill Clegg Memorial Building” and will become home to the Dorothea McKellar Society.
Council will accept applications from other community groups wishing to taking up residence in the building.
