NRL PLAYER HAS ASSAULT CHARGE THROWN OUT

An assault charge against Melbourne Storm player Maurice Blair has been struck out – because of a police bungle.
He’d been accused of pushing and spitting at a woman outside a Broadbeach nightclub after the team’s win against the Titans in March.
In what the Prosecutor described as a ‘silly minor mistake’, Blair’s notice to appear was dated to 20-11 instead of 2012 – enough to get the charge dumped.
Blair could still front court again – if police issue a fresh charge.
