COUNCIL SAYS FEDERAL BUDGET LEFT OUT REGIONAL NSW

Tamworth Regional Council says the federal budget leaves out regional New South Wales.

Last year’s $2.3 billion state road expenditure was almost slashed in half- which many say is unsustainable, particularly with the country’s growing resource sector.

Acting Mayor for Tamworth Regional Council, Russell Webb said,”Flooding has caused a lot of damage, but our infrastructure nation wide in terms of roads and bridges is starting to collapse around us and we haven’t seen enough money injected into that in the past and we’re certainly not going to see it in the future.”

Rising electricity prices, higher costs in waste management and a reduction in fuel rebates are set to hit rate payers hard.

Tamworth’s acting mayor says a rate rise is on the horizon.
