FIRE FORCES RESIDENTS TO FLEE

A woman has survived a unit fire on the New South Wales North Coast.

Firefighters were called to the Coffs Harbour property around 9.30 last night.

The woman inside the second storey unit was treated for smoke inhalation – after escaping the blaze.

Several bystanders were also treated by paramedics, after taking in smoke.

” I heard the lady who lives there starting to scream fire, fire, so I grabbed my kids, my mother and ran out the door it was full of black smoke.”

One of the rooms suffered severe damage, after part of the ceiling collapsed.
