ARMED CAR JACKING ON KOORAGANG ISLAND

A man will face court over an armed car jacking in Newcastle early Thursday morning.
Police allege that a man forced a car to stop on Kooragang Island.
He allegedly entered the car, threatening the 22-year-old female driver with a gun.
They drove for a while before she told him she needed petrol and stopped at a service station.
She alerted the attendant who then called the police, but the man ran from the scene.
A 30-year-old man was later arrested at Newcastle Railway Station.
He was charged and was refused bail in Newcastle Local Court today.
