SLAIN OFFICER’S DAUGHTER JOINS THE FORCE

The state’s police force today welcomed its newest members, with 437 recruits graduating in Goulburn today.
Oxley Local Area Command is set to receive four new officers – as Tamworth continues to fight alarming crime rates.
Among the probationary constables who graduated was Jemma Galea – the step-daughter of slain Tamworth officer David Rixon.
She was embraced by proud mother Fiona.
“A bittersweet day, a bittersweet day for all of us. We lost a good man, that’s the bitter. And, the sweet is that we’ve got his daughter, she’s working with us now one of us. And I was so proud to see her sporting her father’s medal.” – NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione
Senior Constable Rixon was gunned down after a routine traffic stop in March this year.
