FAMILIAR FINISH FOR BELMONT IN NEWCASTLE BASEBALL DECIDER

Belmont has won a dramatic Newcastle Baseball grand final, beating minor premiers Toronto 6-5.
Playing in their 23rd consecutive season decider, the boys in blue established a handy 4-2 lead.
Tigers pitcher Joel Hudson couldn’t stem the flow, as Belmont increased their advantage to 5-2.
An impressive effort on the mound by Belmont’s Paul Anderson had Toronto needing a miracle and they found one in the bottom of the ninth, taking the game to extra innings.
In the end, one run was all it took for Belmont, leaving the Tigers without a grand final win in 64 years.
