NEWCASTLE COUNCIL APPOINTS INTERIM GENERAL MANAGER

Newcastle Council has appointed an interim General Manager.

Kenneth Gouldthorp will take up the position on the 11th of March after being endorsed by council at last night’s Extraordinary meeting.

Lord Mayor Jeff McCloy says he contacted Mr Gouldthorp this morning.

“Mr Gouldthorp brings with him over 20 years experience working in executive management roles including 10 years experience as a CEO in Local Government in Queensland, with assets in excess of $3 billion, budgets exceeding $550 million per annum and staff of 1,700.”

The interim General Manager has been appointed while the recruitment process takes place.

It comes after the shock resignation of General Manager Phil Pearce earlier in the year.
