Armidale’s Herman Beyersdorf has announced he’ll nominate for Country Labor preselection in the by-election for Richard Torbay’s former state seat of Northern Tablelands.
Mr Beyersdorf has been a councillor with Armidale Dumaresq Council for more than two decades, and is the current deputy mayor.
So far, Mr Beyersdorf is the only candidate to put his hand up for nomination with the party.
He says he’s determined to see Labor reclaim a respectable percentage of votes, and shift away from what he describes as the independent phenomenon.
