A key witness in the Special Commission of Inquiry into the alleged cover-up of child sex abuse in the Hunter has defended the actions of police.
It follows claims from Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox that senior officers deliberately hindered the investigation of abuse cases within the Catholic Church.
