  1. I was at this peaceful protest today and wonder where the reporting is on the evidence presented that the logging is illegal. It was handed to police and NBN and yet nothing about this appears in this report?

  2. How strange that NBN uncritically reported the Forestry claim to have completed the necessary wildlife impact studies when it has not in truth done so, and the logging operation was an illegal one!

  3. Where is the Environmental Impact Statement that the Forestry claims to have completed prior to the activity?

  4. The FC has done the required surveys. Not very well, but they have done them.

Their code calls for endangered/threatened species to be protected by prescripted buffer zones if, and ONLY IF, they are known or identified. In other words, if you don’t see it, it does not have to be protected.

The Marsdenia vine found on the snig track had actually been missed by the FC ‘expert’.

People need to carry out surveys BEFORE one single tree is felled. Logging can be done sustainably and responsibly, but not under this Private Logging Code.

  5. This is a another example of the failure of FC NSW and the EPA to properly monitor logging practice and the newly released Private Forestry Vegetation Code is a joke. A very large number of local people from the Whian Whian, Lismore and Byron Bay area have just discovered that there is no protection for our Koalas and Threatened Species. There are no real protection laws if there is money to be made from habitat. People on the North East Coast will fight to protect our three valuable wild Koala populations.

  6. Why, when I try to post this to facebook, does it come up with a story about Newcastle footballers???

  7. Hi Lisa,

Not sure why that would be happening, but if you copy / paste the story link from the top of the page it will work! Sorry for any inconvenience.
