Belmont Police Station closed today to make way for the new $10-million station being built on the site.
The project was approved by the Joint Regional Planning Panel at the end of last year, after lengthy delays due to council’s concerns over access issues.
The new station will be the headquarters for the Lake Macquarie Command.
In the meantime, Belmont police have re-located to Charlestown and Toronto.
