ICAC HEARS ANTI-LABOR PAMPHLETS TRACED TO TRIPODI & TINKLER
The Corruption Commission inquiry into illegal political donations has heard pamphlets for an anti-Labor campaign in the seat of Newcastle were funded by businessman Nathan Tinkler.
It also heard the pamphlets, to oust then sitting MP Jodi McKay, came from a printer owned by ex-Labor minister Joe Tripodi.
Newcastle solicitor Nick Dan took the stand today, saying he was informed of the scheme by Anne Wills, a close associate of Mr Tripodi.
He also told the ICAC that Ms Wills informed him of the police investigation into prohibited donations made during the 2011 state election campaign.
“(She said) ‘Nick, the police have tracked it down to Joe Tripodi’s printer, the pamphlets were funded by Nathan Tinkler’,” he said.
