St Vinnies in Coffs Harbour will install CCTV cameras aiming to deter people from dumping useless junk in charity bins and shop fronts.
St Vinnies says the cost of disposing unsellable items and rubbish is about $3000 a month – a large portion of the money raised through the stores.
It can’t take items such as furniture, electrical goods and mattresses.
Those wanting to check if their donation is suitable should contact the store directly.
