A 14-year-old boy has been charged following an aggravated break and enter north of Kempsey.
Police allege he threatened an elderly man and woman with a meat cleaver and a tyre lever in their Cabin Street home at Bowraville yesterday morning.
He demanded money, but left empty-handed.
The couple was not injured.
The teenager has been refused bail and will face Kempsey Children’s Court today.
