For a record sixth day, all Newcastle beaches remain closed.
It comes after a large Great White shark was spotted again yesterday afternoon at Nobbys.
Council says it wants to have at least a full day of no sightings of the shark, before reopening the beaches.
Sightings of the shark have been across all beaches, from Stockton to Merewether, and lifeguards are warning it’s not safe for anyone to be in the water, even close to shore, as sharks are known to move into the surf zone, hunting prey between where the surf breaks and the shoreline.
