COFFS RESIDENTS WIN BATTLE AGAINST PHONE TOWER
Coffs Harbour residents have had a win over plans by Optus to build a 45 metre tall telecommunications tower on a site overlooking the Pacific Highway at Sapphire.
The telco announcing it won’t be going ahead with the project and is looking at other options.
The organiser of community protests late last year says it’s a victory for people power.
“That was very reassuring and very pleasant to know that they’ve withdrawn because the battle is over, it was something that all of the residents were very very anxious about,” said Dr Jay Ruthnam, protest organiser.
