Nationals candidate for the state seat of Lismore, Thomas George, looks set to retain his position, despite a 22.5 per cent swing away from the party.
Mr George is 1526 votes ahead of Greens candidate Adam Guise, with almost 90 per cent of the vote counted.
Mr Guise was originally ahead in the days after the election, but Mr George has since regained ground.
The result will give the Coalition its 53rd seat.
Labor has 33 seats and two others remain in doubt.
