COUNCIL VOICES CONCERNS ABOUT FISHERMEN’S CO-OP
Port Macquarie Hastings Council has voiced its concern about the future of the Hastings River Fishermen’s Co-op.
The business has been told by the Department of Primary Industries it must vacate the premises by December 31, and demolish the building.
Council says the ruling could affect its Expression of Interest submission for the Plaza Carpark site, which is currently being reviewed by the state government.
“Part of the concept plans that we put forward included an improved fishing co-op and access to the water for local produce to be sold, that’s an important part of the plans we have.”
Council says it wants the carpark and foreshore kept in public hands.
