Former Newcastle Lord Mayor Jeff McCloy’s High Court challenge to make it legal for developers to donate to state political campaigns, began in Canberra today.
Submissions were heard all day, including those from four state Attorneys-General who are intervening.
Mr McCloy resigned as Lord Mayor last year after the ICAC heard he’d previously contributed to the 2011 election campaigns of three Hunter Liberal candidates.
Submissions continue tomorrow, with a decision expected in three to six months.
