NSW BUDGET NUMBERS FOR THE HUNTER
The State Government has just released it’s budget numbers for the Hunter region.
The Newcastle light rail project has received $100 million to start construction.
The other commitments to the Hunter are:
HUNTER ROADS
Hunter roads to receive $50-million between 2015-2016.
HEALTH
The budget includes $9.9-million to continue site preparation for the new Maitland Hospital and $1.7 million to commence stage two of the Muswellbrook Hospital redevelopment.
$4.3-million is dedicated to the redevelopment of John Hunter Children’s Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
$1-million to continue to John Hunter Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
EDUCATION
The Budget includes $9.3-million to continue to the upgrade of Rutherford High School.
EMERGENCY SERVICES
$2.65-million to complete work on a new fire station at Maryland.
$1.45-million to complete work on a new fire station at Lambton.
The budget has set aside $5-million for the repair and maintenance of the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation Scheme.
INFRASTRUCTURE
$26-million has been committed from the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund to local projects, including more than $12-million towards the University of Newcastle’s New Space project.
