Lake Macquarie’s Rachel Jones will take another step towards a potential appearance at the 2016 Olympics, when she competes at the BMX World Championships in Belgium this week.
Making the Aussies feel a little more at home, the first corner of the track they’ll compete on has been named the Buchanan Bend, in honour of Jones’s famous teammate, two-time world champion Caroline Buchanan.
19-year-old Jones relocated to the Gold Coast in late 2013, to chase her dream of competing in Rio.
