A 45-year-old woman will face court today, charged with assaulting an elderly woman in her East Maitland home.
The 91-year-old woke up just after 8am yesterday to find an intruder in her Barton Street home.
She attempted to grab her handbag from the woman in her room, but was kicked in the leg.
The woman fled and was arrested in a nearby yard a short time later.
Police allege she was in possession of stolen items from the home.
She’ll face Maitland Bail Court later today.
