COUNCIL TO VOTE ON MAJOR UPGRADE OF ST JOHN’S CATHEDRAL
St John’s Cathedral at Maitland could soon house functions and provide short term accommodation, if a new $1-million plan is approved by council.
The application is seeking to refurbish the convent building to create an extra bedroom, and change its use to provide six rooms for tourist accommodation for up to 12 people.
The proposal also includes the creation of an outdoor function area, a new amenities building and internal alterations to provide a commercial kitchen, bar servery and cool room storage.
Council will vote on the plan tomorrow night.
