MORE INDIGENOUS EMPLOYEES IN NORTH WEST MINING SECTOR

A new agreement is set to see more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employed in the North West mining sector.

Today Whitehaven Coal signed a Native Title agreement with the local Gomeroi community.

The partnership has set in concrete the mining company’s target of acheiving 10 per cent indigenous employment at the the Maules Creek mine site.

Already, more than 50 Aboriginal people work at the mine.
