MATILDAS COACH ON A MISSION FOR A MEDAL IN RIO

Australian women’s coach Alen Stajcic was an interested spectator at this afternoon’s W-League clash between the Jet and City.
Earlier today, Stajcic conducted a clinic for Hunter coaches.
Following Australia’s quarter final exit to Japan at this year’s World Cup, the Matildas mentor is now focused on doing even better at the Rio Olympics.
“So it’s essential that we qualify, that starts on February 29 and Japan our first game. If we get to the Olympics I’m sure we’re a shot at a medal.”
Currently playing for Frankfurt in Germany, the Hunter’s Emily van Egmond is seen as a vital part of Australia’s leadership group.
“Her last game for the Matildas last Sunday was probably her best game, so hopefully she continues to progress and bring back some of those qualities that she learns from that environment back into our team.”
