Twenty-two Hunter residents have been honoured in Australia Day awards, following their contribution to the community in a variety of spheres.
The list of OAM recipients includes Dianne Skaines from Valentine for her work with the SES, Eddy Bergsma of Fingal Bay for surf lifesaving and Dr Rodney Starr of Medowie for veterinary science.
Residents awarded the title of Member of the Order of Australia include Clifford Beazley from Raymond Terrace for work in marine transport and Peter Dundas-Smith of Nelson Bay for fisheries research.
The Hunter’s Order of Australia medal (OAM) recipients were:

Philip Mosgrove of Adamstown Heights (surf lifesaving);
Dr John Paradice of Scone (medicine and community service);
Janet Sharp of Bobs Farm (disability work);
