A support group dedicated to raising money for cancer research at Newcastle’s Calvary Mater Hospital, today came face-to-face with the staff it’s been assisting for 15 years.
The ladies were given a tour of the hospital’s labs to mark a major fundraising milestone – half a million dollars.
“So we had our meeting, said we’ve reached our goal. What are we going to do? Are we going to retire? Go to bingo? Watch days of our lives? No we will try for $600,000,” said Marie Main from Coalfields Cancer Support Group.
The Cessnock group’s commitment has been vital to the hospital’s work.
