New South Wales Police Deputy Commissioner Nick Kaldas has confirmed his retirement from the force after 34 years.
The veteran officer, who had been tipped to replace Commissioner Andrew Scipione next year, shocked colleagues with today’s announcement.
Mr Kaldas says he will take leave before his retirement becomes official.
