SINGLETON RESIDENTS RALLY OVER STATE OF BURDEKIN PARK

Singleton residents are planning a rally this Sunday over the state of Burdekin Park.

A large flying fox colony has forced the council to close the park due to safety concerns.

Council has approval to remove a couple of trees, and to lop damaged branches, but locals are calling for the state and federal governments to step-in with a more long-term solution.

The bats are protected under state and federal laws.

Residents will meet at the Singleton Golf Club at 10am, then walk to Burdekin Park.
