WOOLOMIN BLACK SPOT A THING OF THE PAST

A notorious black spot at Woolomin is now a thing of the past, with the installation of a new mobile phone tower.
The site is one of more than 30 in the New England region, identified as part of the federal government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme.
“Walcha road will come on soon, Dungowan will be in by the end of the year, then we have Attunga, Copeton Dam, Figtree, Baldersleigh… Always making sure we look after people at the edges.”
The phone tower is the 60th to be installed across the country.
“Before it came, we were over the other side of Chaffey Dam and we couldn’t get out with radio reception, couldn’t get out with phones and we had to send someone all around to send messages to get us another truck.”
