North Coast TAFE is celebrating the graduation of its first training group, at Taree’s Your Cafe.
The new program was formed to help struggling local businesses, hold down workers.
“When they sent their staff away to be trained, they were actually going away to Port Macquarie and not coming back to the Manning once they were trained – so we took that on board and developed this enterprise to meet that local need,” North Coast Tafe leader in community and business engagement Maura Luxford said.
The goal is to give hospitality students the skills they need to be job ready.
“I’ve learnt new ideas of cooking and new ways of doing barista, and improving on my coffee skills which i really love and i really enjoyed this course,” student Tamita Vactoria-Guzman said.
