Motorists on the Oxley Highway were faced with a fast moving grass fire after a blaze broke out in scrub just east of Gunnedah last night.
Emergency services responded shortly after 9pm – but it was Rural Fire Service volunteers with community fire units, who were the first to respond.
Volunteer crews had the blaze under control within minutes of arriving.
It’s still unclear what caused the fire.
