DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FORCE SURF BOATS ONTO LAKE MACQUARIE
In an unprecedented move, dangerous surf conditions have forced organisers to shift the surf boat competition in the NSW Surf Life Saving Championships onto Lake Macquarie.
The Masters surf boat events are being held at Croudace Bay to ensure competitor safety.
A decision will be made tomorrow morning about the Open events. If conditions improve, the event will move back to Blacksmiths Beach.
Lake Macquarie City Council and Lake Macquarie Economic Development Company Dantia have secured the event for the next two years.
Up to 20,000 competitors, officials, and spectators are expected to attend the championships.
