Byron Bay surf lifesaver, Matilda Shirley, has capped off her nipper career in style, after being crowned Junior Lifesaver of the Year.
Shirley, and fellow winner Elliot Prasad from Narrabeen, were among 22 under-14 finalists from 11 branches across the state.
“I’m just so honoured to represent both my club and my branch and just to do everyone, who I hold dear, proud and yeah, it’s just an amazing moment, feeling”
She impressed judges during a week-long leadership and development program for lifesavers in her final year of Nippers.
