MOREE COURTHOUSE UPGRADES

More than $300,000 will be spent to bring Moree’s heritage-listed courthouse into the 21st century.
New technology is being installed in the 155-year-old precinct to allow people to appear before the court, via audio-visual link.
“It just negates the need for them to fly or drive all the way out to Moree for court, they can appear from Sydney or Brisbane or Melbourne or even another court in another part of the state.”
It’s not only expected to save thousands of dollars, but also free up police resources.
“It means police wont have to be as busy ferrying prisoners around the state they can appear for bail and committal hearings whether they’re being held in remand in Tamworth or Grafton.”
