ALLEGED DRUNK DRIVER HITS WOMAN AT PORT STEPHENS
A woman has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car at Port Stephens, allegedly driven by a high-range drink driver.
Police say the 25-year-old victim was walking along Magnus Street in Nelson Bay shortly after midnight, when she was struck by a Mazda utility.
The ute then crashed into the front of a house.
The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries.
The 43-year-old male driver of the Mazda suffered minor injuries, and allegedly returned a positive breath test.
The Nelson Bay man has been charged with high-range drink driving and causing bodily harm by misconduct.
He’s due to face court next month.
