MATERNITY SERVICES CONSUMER COMMITTEE SELECTED
The first meeting of the newly formed Maternity Services Consumer Committee could take place as early as next week..
It follows the selection of six community members who make up the group.
“We have a representative from our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island community, we have a local father on the committee, we have some young mothers and some slightly older people,” Catharine Death, Hunter New England Health, General Manager for Peel.
It looks to bring back vital services to expectant families following the closure of the Community Midwife Program at Tamworth Hospital in April.
“We really value that input that to consumer committees bring in. So, the midwifery service is a big service, this is a key service for the entire region,” Ms Death said.
