Cowboys player and Urunga local, Shaun Fensom, is recovering after undergoing surgery in Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital this morning.
Fensom suffered a broken leg in last night’s grand final when he collided with fellow Cowboy Ethan Lowe.
The incident happened just three minutes into the game which was the 29-year-old’s first grand final appearance.
He is expected to remain in hospital until tomorrow ahead of returning home to Townsville on Wednesday.
Fensom, who is contracted with the Cowboys for next season, is expected to recover in time for the 2018 pre-season training.
